A misleading fundraising appeal from Angie Craig
This is a text message blast sent by Angie Craig’s campaign on Thursday, July 16th, wherein she claims to have a ‘MAGA opponent.’
Friend, this is worse than I ever could have expected.
This is Angie Craig, and I’m running for U.S. Senate. .
I don’t share that to guilt you. I share it to give you real insight into what it takes to run a grassroots fundraising operation — one that’s focused on reaching every voter, stretching every dollar and winning the primary in less than one month.
If you can spare $1 or more to help us make up this 19% fundraising gap as quickly as possible, please use this link: https://angieformn.co/qQQf8V
Look, I know that during the summer, donating to political campaigns might not be top-of-mind. Folks are traveling more than usual and spending time with family and friends.
But unlike my MAGA opponent, I don’t have billionaires writing me massive checks. I seriously rely on committed Democrats like you who give a few bucks at a time. [emphasis in the original]
Our fundraising goals aren’t artificial — they’re carefully calculated and critical to our campaign’s success.
Every day we miss our fundraising goals is a day that MAGA Michele has the chance to outspend me on voter outreach and the airwaves. We CANNOT afford for that to happen.
So I have to ask, friend: Before midnight, will you PLEASE help me make up my 19% gap by pitching in a dollar or more?

Thank you for giving when you can,
Angie Craig
Stop to end
Angie Craig does not currently have a MAGA opponent. Her opponent is a progressive Democrat who happens to be the sitting Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. It perhaps doesn’t need to be said that Peggy Flanagan is not MAGA.
There are two words later in the text, ‘MAGA Michele,’ an apparent reference to Michele Tafoya, who is running in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate nomination. It is disingenuous and misleading, though, to fundraise against a possible opponent in the general election (if both Angie and Michele win their primaries) in the primary.
In this case, it’s also rich when you consider the flood of super pac money monopolizing the airwaves supporting Craig and demonizing Peggy Flanagan.
Thanks for your feedback. If we like what you have to say, it may appear in a future post of reader reactions.
