Remembering the parade of heroes and charlatans
Years from now, perhaps when the current age is lost in antiquity, or probably even sooner, people in Minnesota will wonder what all the wailing and gnashing of teeth were about over the issue of same-sex marriage. It might be a puzzle to children, who will ask, “You mean there was a time when Uncle Jim couldn’t get married to Uncle Fred?”
And then it will be time to fire up the wayback machine and play the documentary movie that The Uptake wants to make, to watch the issue’s parade of heroes and charlatans march across the Capitol steps, or hide in the bushes, as the case may be.
But in order for the future to do that, friends, it needs your help. The Uptake has a current Kickstarter campaign to make a documentary, and as you know, The Uptake has been on this issue from the start. It needs to raise the minimum amount required on Kickstarter by the end of the day Friday, September 6th, which is just days away.
The funds raised — if they are — will be used for the production of the documentary, using existing footage, new material and interviews, and when necessary, getting the required permissions.
Here’s a promo that Jeff Strate (who himself produces the cable show Democratic Visions) produced about the project.
Remember, end of the day Friday, September 6th is the deadline to contribute.
Thanks for your feedback. If we like what you have to say, it may appear in a future post of reader reactions.
