Is the Gaza Riviera really dead?

The plan was that once all the Palestinians were either killed or displaced the Gaza Strip would be turned into the world’s grandest luxury resort area. The whole thing would have come across like some sort of Dadaist performance if it wasn’t so abominable and sickening.

A new 21-point plan presented by US President Donald Trump to a group of Muslim leaders on (September 23) proposes a permanent end to Israel’s war in Gaza, deploying an international force to the strip and no forced displacement of Palestinians, according to a Financial Times (FT) report…

The plan stipulates that there would be no forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, which Trump’s notorious “Gaza Riviera” plan would require. Israeli officials have consistently said they plan to implement the Trump proposal that was widely rejected by Arab leaders, a plan even the US administration has since distanced itself from.

What’s apparently being overlooked in a lot of the reporting on this (and pretty much everything else) is Trump’s mental health issues, specifically the obvious indicators of Alzheimer’s disease on top of his preexisting conditions including a severe delusional disorder. He doesn’t change his mind because he gets new information and carefully thinks things through in light of that. In reality he obviously doesn’t really remember what he said to whom from one day to the next. So it’s all about who has his ear at any given time, and all too often it’s the likes of Stephen Miller, Pete Hegseth, and Laura Loomer. Which explains the frequent swings. I know that at times he’s still capable of seeming lucid, but far more often than not he’s just a babbling idiot, and the ratio of the latter to the former will only continue to increase.

The other major issue here is Trump’s extreme cognitive immaturity, or underdevelopment if you prefer. Let’s say that you take a child of two or three into a room full of toys, and tell him that he can play with anything except for one or two items that he really shouldn’t. You know what the kid’s probably going to head for as soon as your back is turned. So it is with Trump. Any abuses of power that he can do – tariffs, sending the National Guard into cities, etc., etc., will almost certainly be attempted. It’s all about immediate gratification – again, like a little kid.

All that said, the Gaza Riviera is probably not going to happen, given the entirely justified, horrified contempt and disgust that Israel is already facing throughout much of the world. Probably.

Comment from Joe Musich: Gaza Rivera won’t be dead until Israel has a new government. It’s all absolutely disgusting.
